Piet Mondrian
Dutch artist and theorist Piet Mondrian remains one of the most influential figures of modern art. His radical abstraction of tension and unity in the natural world paved the way for a radical movement of deconstructive art called neoplasticism. Believing that the evolution of art should reflect that of humankind, Mondrian eventually developed his individualistic palette of contrasting primary colours and asymmetrical arrangements, a depiction still well-known and highly regarded today.
